Why it matters
Electronic music mastering
has its own set of demands.
has its own set of demands.
The low end decisions are more precise, the stereo field is more complex, and the loudness targets are genre-specific. Here's what I focus on for electronic music — from ambient and house to techno and experimental.
Sub-bass control
Sub frequencies below 60Hz can cause limiters to pump and reduce perceived loudness. Careful low-end management — mono below 80Hz, precise EQ on the sub — keeps the mix tight and powerful on club systems and earbuds alike.
Stereo width and mono compatibility
Electronic music often uses wide, complex stereo information. The master needs to preserve that width while remaining solid in mono — for club systems, phones, and any single-speaker playback scenario.
Loudness for the genre
House, techno, and dance music run loud. Ambient and experimental sit differently. The loudness target I set is informed by the sub-genre — not a one-size-fits-all setting — so your track competes appropriately without sounding squashed.
Transient preservation
Kick drums and snares in electronic music need to cut through without getting swallowed by limiting. Transient-aware processing keeps the punch and attack of drum elements while still achieving competitive loudness.
Depth and space
The sense of space in electronic music — reverb tails, delay trails, layered pads — can easily get lost under heavy processing. I use multiband and mid-side approaches to preserve the three-dimensional feel of the mix.
True peak for streaming and club
True peak limiting at –1.0 dBTP keeps your track from clipping after AAC encoding on streaming platforms or during DJ playback. Electronic music especially suffers from intersample clipping — catching it at mastering is essential.

How it works
Simple, fast, and technically precise
1
Export your mix as a WAV
24-bit WAV, no limiter on the master bus, peaks around –6 dBFS. For electronic music especially, leaving headroom is critical — don't try to make it loud before sending.
2
Tell me the sub-genre and context
House, techno, ambient, experimental, film scoring — the approach shifts significantly. Include any reference tracks and where this is going (streaming, club, sync placement).
3
I listen and master with precision
Electronic music often has complex low end and stereo information that requires careful analysis before touching anything. I'll flag any mix issues that might affect the result before starting.
4
Your master back in 24–48hrs
A streaming-ready WAV with correct true peak ceiling, genre-appropriate loudness, and the depth and clarity your production deserves. Three rounds of revisions included.

Common questions
Electronic music mastering — FAQ
Do you master ambient, experimental, and non-club electronic music?▼
Yes — and it's approached very differently from club music. Ambient and experimental mastering is about preserving space, depth, and texture rather than chasing loudness. The processing is lighter and more careful. Tell me what you're making and I'll approach it accordingly.
My track is designed for club playback — how do you handle that?▼
Club mastering means a tight, powerful low end, a mono-compatible stereo field, and enough loudness to sit right in a DJ set without pumping. I also make sure the true peak is correctly set so it doesn't clip through DJ software or club systems — a common issue with heavily limited electronic tracks.
Should I send stems or a stereo mix?▼
A stereo mix is standard and what most projects need.
What loudness target should electronic music hit on Spotify?▼
It depends on the sub-genre. Dance and club music typically targets –8 to –10 LUFS integrated. Ambient and experimental can sit more dynamic at –14 to –16 LUFS and actually benefit from Spotify's normalization. I set the target based on the music — not a blanket number.
How much does electronic music mastering cost?▼
$70/track, includes 16-bit WAV + MP3 delivery (24-bit available on request). Three rounds of revisions included with every order. First-time clients get a free mastered sample before committing.
